I knew a story by Ms. Pope would bring on tears and end happily, but I didn't realise the different depths of emotions that I would experience. Sunny and Julian...once they meet, the path is set for them to go on a journey of discovery together...and a journey of love. Heartbreak, family, friends, mental illness and strength are all captured in these pages. The mystery of Sunny's mother leaves you rooting for the beautiful soul that is Sunny while also hoping for healing and closure. Julian has his own obstacles, but without a doubt, the softening of him because of having Sunny in his life can be felt. I loved this novel. I can't wait for the next story! 💜

This book was so good, it had everything I long for in a book, laughter, happiness, some sadness and amazing chemistry between characters. The characters had such depth to them they felt real and had you rooting for them by the end!! Love Jamie Pope books!!

But for that she needs an attorney.Julian King is a high-powered lawyer who knows nothing of family law. A former pro football player, he is determined to prove himself at his firm and make partner. He wants nothing to do with Sunny and her pro-bono case.Of course, Sunny and Julian end up working together and they are drawn close to each other and discover they have some surprisingly similar experiences.Mostly, this is a sweet romance. At first, Julian was rather unlikable but as his attraction to Sunny grew, he became a different person and the relationship and the reading became more enjoyable. The novel’s pace was a bit slow and at times it was difficult to engage with the search for the mysterious and elusive mother.Overall, this was a pleasant read and I would recommend it to those wanting a light, sweet romance. 3 stars.I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sunny is now a social worker with a passion for helping children. Once she turned 18 and started studying she has dedicated her whole life to helping others. For Sunny this is personal as when she was a child, she grew up in an unstable home with a mother who had mental health issues. When she was little, her mother abandoned her and Sunny was found hiding in the closet by some friendly Police Officers. From there, Sunny was put into foster care and eventually found a great home where she lived until her foster mother passed away. Sunny has found herself attached and heavily invested in a little girl Grace's care. Grace reminds Sunny a lot of herself and has finally found a loving home with a mother who wants to adopt her. The thing is though that Grace's birth mother has tracked her down and is sending money and letters telling Grace that she will be back for her and telling her to foster mother thank you for looking after her little girl. Sunny becomes actively involved and gets the idea in her head that Grace may be her long-lost sister as like her Grace calls her Mum - Mama, and her parents were mixed race. Sunny employs the help of top rising attorney Julian King and in doing so will show Julian what it is to love one another sincerely and that underneath all the hardness he can still enjoy true romance, and that love does not have to act like a business transaction. I have to admit I had high hopes for the book and felt a bit disappointed with the ending and had imagined it taking a different turn. I do hope that we get more of Sunny's story and that we find out what happened to her mother once and for all, as seems like she had fallen off the face of the earth.

It was the hope and promise of a rookie by the name of Mickey Mantle… and the crumbling of a Yankee icon that wasn’t really the human being perceived by the outside world. Firmly embedded in the very middle of this uncomfortable changing of the guard… was the one and only Charles Dillon Stengel… known to the world as “Casey”. And though the book’s cover photo is of the “The Mick” and “Dimag”… Casey gets as much if not more “book” time than the two aforementioned icons. It makes sense that Casey is center stage… since he was the manager that had to balance the crumbling demise of what was known as Joe DiMaggio… and at the same time manage and control the expectation of a raw young superstar in the making.The author does a good job of chronicling not only the statistical trail of this crossroad year of Yankee history… but also the psychological and mental aspects. Amazingly… the most impressive part of the book… is the balancing act… and onstage performance… of a heretofore caricature… of a rubber faced… wobbling… mangler… of the English language… “The Old Perfessor” himself… Casey Stengel. Casey is one part politician… one part… vaudeville act… one part… baseball strategist… and one part… (Which was surprising to me even after half-a-century of dedication to the love of baseball) disciplinarian. Also surprising… but not as much so… was what an unlovable… unsympathetic… individual… Joe DiMaggio was. In fact… after reading this book… I can now “answer”… without hesitation… the poetic… musical question asked by Paul Simon: “Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?”…The answer is… he got the hell out of New York… at the request of all his teammates! Here is one of the nice descriptions of his alienation from his teammates. “Tommy Henrich and DiMaggio had played side by side for 10 years, a decade of baseball shared. Each man deeply respected and admired the other’s skills on the ball field. Truth is, a harsh word never passed between the two. But Henrich could never remember sharing a meal with Joe.”“Joe was extraordinarily self-conscious off. (The field) DiMaggio wasn’t the most articulate fella and he feared coming off as an uneducated rube.” There is a very nostalgic throw-back feel to the book as individuals always refer to people as being “swell”… and the other players are quite often referred to as “the fellas”… and the reporters warmly referred to as “the boys”. It’s almost like watching an old black and white Jimmy Stewart or Humphrey Bogart movie. The release date of this book seemed to change many times as I received numerous Emails from Amazon notifying me of such changes. It has been my experience that when this happens… more often than not… that foretells editing problems… and there were a number of typos and grammatical mistakes. This is a book that will be enjoyed by “old-school” baseball fans.

Author Andrew O'Toole has brought the 1951 season of the New York Yankees back to life when the final season of Joe DiMaggio overlapped with the rookie year of Mickey Mantle. Author O'Toole paints magnificent portraits of the reclusive DiMaggio, the much-heralded Mantle who hit moon shots from both sides of the plate, along with General Manager George Weiss, Manager Casey Stengel, and other members of the team such as Yogi Berra, Hank Bauer, Gil MacDougald, and others. The author does a wonderful job in presenting the tug-of-war between Weiss and Stengel as to what Mantle's immediate future should be; the minor leagues at Kansas City or with the parent Yankees.We have the conflict between Stengel and DiMaggio which each presented as nonexistent to reporters while having private thoughts about each other. Mantle's struggles that had him sent to the Yankees' Kansas City's minor league farm club led to his father's stern lecture that eventually got him on the road to success.The book concludes with coverage of the 1951 World Series between the Yankees and the New York Giants. The book contains no photos but Author O'Toole paints such vivid pictures throughout the book of the principal characters that the lack of photos went unnoticed by me. Forest have been felled on the printing of books on the New York Yankees but this one is a gem whether you are a Yankee fan or not. Buy the book. It is well worth it.

Very entertaining. Pretty much already knew of the story. The author did fill in some pieces of the story I hadn't known of. Would suggest book to any baseball fan. This bit of history is remarkable considering that two of the games greatest players were members of the same team for one special year!

If one wants a readable, accurate replay of the 1951 season, this is a good place to go.If the intent is to learn more about the relationship between Joe and Mickey, then it's not.The author's admitted sources are the already-published newspaper accounts of the beat writers and columnists of New York in 1951, and little if any new material will be found here. Casey should have gotten space in the title, since the book is as much about him as Joe and Mickey. That's not bad, but also not what I was expecting.It's a quick and somewhat unsatisfying read.

I am a Yankee fan and love to read about the history of that franchise. This was an in depth look at this unique year with a lot of good information about the principle players.

Great historical read on the strait ed relationship ship of Yankee greats Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle in 1951 as their careers go in opposite directions.Like two ships passing in the night, neither is very aware or concerned about the other. The guy pulling the strings and deftly orchestrating the New York media is loquacious manger Casey Stengel.Great read (especially for ardent Yankee fans)!

By the title I thought there would be much info on the relationship between DiMaggio and Mantle, there was not. It was just a recap of the 1951 season with some background. Title was misleading. I was disappointed.

I love this travel book because it goes beyond just talking about destinations, it gives an "off the beaten path" look at events that may normally be overlooked by the tourist traveler. I have not had the opportunity to travel much in my lifetime, but as I read this book I could imagine the festivals and locations vividly which lead to me creating a bucket list of place to visit. One such place is India and the Kumbh Mela the largest of all India's religious festivals. While I am not a person that loves crowds, especially to the tune of 120 million people, the sites and happenings of this festival sound intriguing.I hope to use this book as a guide to see places in the world that are eye opening and memorable!

I have not had the chance to travel much, but this book will be very helpful when I do get to travel. If you're wanting to travel the world, or are already a seasoned traveler; this book will enlighten and inspire your travel plans and experiences. For the price, it was a nice buy to get a little glimpse into places I might want to consider seeing. Does not provide in depth travel tips, which is ok otherwise this book would be much too big. This is just right for getting into traveling.

Mr. Rogers has done it again! His travel book is interesting, fun, witty and full of random destinations throughout the world that I’ve never heard of.I especially enjoyed the section about cats and the different locations where they are prominently displayed as architecture.An easy read with captivating facts, this travel book is worth the while! Most travel books are so boring, like text books! But not this one! Very fun read! Thank you Bill Rogers !

I love how thorough this book is. I have very macabre interests and finding a tour book that includes things like that is very hard to find. Additionally, I love everything cat or kitten related. This book has amazing details on macabre sights, but also talks very in depth about cat related sights around the world. I think it's really cool how diverse this book is.

This book fills this gap by offering a smooth read to the average reader. This work also provides a glimpse of the present, the potential for the future, and most importantly demonstrates the fine line between detecting/curing diseases and abuse of reading too much into the data of genomic sequencing. Are we ready for the social implications of doctor's interactions with electronic medical records with a bigdata driven genomic module?

As a biology teacher I like to keep up with the latest news in genomics and medicine. This boon is an eye opener when it comes to thinking about the future of medicine. I believe we will see medical treatments and health care changing in our lifetime. I suggest reading this book!

This is the music from the film - in the same keys as the film and same basic versions. If you know the movie or had the LP record or CD, you will enjoy playing the music! The music though is not for beginners, these are standard piano versions.I was particularly looking for "The Glove" which was hard to find anywhere else but in this book; although this is a piano version and not the orchestrated version of this song as heard on the soundtrack, it's basically the same, maybe not as technical as the fully-orchestrated version, for obvious reasons.

Authentic to the soundtrack. This is the real version, not some watered-down rearrangement. Not for the beginning pianist, however, though the reward is a set of beautiful piano arrangements you will enjoy.

Perfect Score! Pun intended! One of my favorite movies and now I can learn the music too! Joplin was brilliant. This is a full score rendition and not some dumbed down version. Enjoy!

Great to get this old songbook still from the movie. I love these songs.

I gave this sheet music as a birthday present to a dear friend who plays piano (I don't). She absolutely loves it (and ragtime in general). She now plays it for us when we are visiting at her house...everyone really enjoys it!

Purchased because my father and I both love the movie. It's a classic. Sadly, as is rarely the case in my experience, this book is not as good as the movie. I was expecting the usual -that the movie had nowhere near the detail and background information, and that the book would paint an even better story. This is not the case. I wish it were.

The rags are presented in near-original format along with Marvin Hamlisch's renditions as played in the movie. I was pleased to find "Luther", the mournful dirge for the character's death early in the movie that prompted Hooker to meet up with Gondorf to get the "sting" in operation.
