Nicely bound and handsomely illustrated, the content is sadly not up to the rest of the product. I ready like this as a nice introduction on some of the concepts that appear in the plots of the stories, but this is far from a technical book. Compared to the HAYNES manual for my Honda Civic, there is not much to this book. Very handsome binding and lovely printing though.

A lot of new information here I hadn't seen before. Wish they could have devoted more to TOS Enterprise but I understand they had to cover all the major incarnations. That said, the chapter on the NX01 "Enterprise" TV show ship was quite interesting. Because this was a failed series, it doesn't get much press but the design of the ship is very functional and has a lot of details that didn't go into the original design of TOS Enterprise.

A thorough waste of money.A Haynes Manuel is extensive. Exhaustive. This "Owners' Workshop Manual" is anything but. Details that you find inside are pretty much things that any Star Trek fan would already know, and they are easily found in previous publications. Quite frankly, this could've been a fantastic, groundbreaking book, especially when showing details about the NX-01, and yet, as I said, it didn't even come close to delivering. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW in this book, really. Between the Star Trek Technical Manuals, and the former (much better) Star Trek: the Magazine, they were much more informative. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE PRESENTING INFORMATION NOBODY PREVIOUSLY KNEW. Don't waste your time buying this. Shame on you, Star Trek money grubbers, for publishing this worthless book.

As many people have pointed out, this book was far too light on any new facts or Treknology to satisfy fans. When you compare it to other genre Haynes manuals, like the Millennium Falcon, the Thunderbirds, or especially the Bird of Prey, it's particularly lacking. It does have a few nice original graphics, but most of the stuff is rehashed from old episodes. Where they could have made this book interesting was by adding more detail on ships that we don't know much about, like the Enterprise B and C. This was the first of the series, though, and the Haynes manuals have gotten better. Here's hoping Sternbach can convince them to let him write a Voyager one.

If you're looking for a solid technical manual on the workings of the Enterprise, keep looking (or go back and re-read your copy of Mr. Scott's Guide). I've never written a book myself, but come on, did the authors not now who their audience was going to be? The book starts out with a huge picture of the Okuda's in the Forward, which doesn't do the best job of setting the mood of the book. It then launches into a "history" of the Enterprise, which is pretty much just a weak synopsis of the shows and movies. This is probably my biggest complaint is that 90% of the text is just rehash of events from the shows and the movies. Seriously, did they really think that the folks buying this book had never seen the shows or movies? My other main compliant was all the "filler" material. Did the book really need the following passage from page 48 describing the blinking red light on the main console of original Enterprise: "An indicator on the front of the console illuminated to show the ship's status. Under normal operating conditions, it was not illuminated, but when the ship was at red alert it flashed red". I'm not making that up. That's a word-for-word quote from the book. I half expected an explanation to show up indicating that doors were provided for crew quarters, and that if the door were closed, it indicated that the crew member wanted privacy.There were a couple of good diagrams and breakout explanations of things like quantum torpedos, which is why I gave two stars. But seriously, this is fifteen bucks and a few hours of reading I wish I had back.

More than just the "Haynes", there are drawings, illustrations, and screen caps from the series on TV and a little of the TOS movies. Elevations and layouts, cutaways and exploded views also. DS9 and VOY are not included. More info on warp drive, shuttle crafts, transporters, time travel, and weapons. If you are or know any Trek fan, this will be a hit.

This is more of a glorified picture book, then Haynes manual. Haynes makes some of the best repair books and this is nothing but a full color picture book. It was not what I was expecting by and was more of a let down when I first looked it over. It would be nice for the description to clam that it's not a Haynes repair manual as that's what they are know for making. I would guess that the other books like this for other ships and fiction craft are about the same after seeing this one.This is not the prize of my collection by at all.

I honestly expected cut-away diagrams such as the one seen on the cover, but there are none. I was also hoping to (though I didn't expect it), at some point, see the greasy hands of Haynes holding up a piece or part of the Enterprise's engines, but only because it would have been funny.In any case, it's definitely not worthy of the Haynes cover and title.

Frank Zollner wrote his doctoral thesis on motifs originating from Antiquity in the history of art and architecture of the Medieval and Renaissance periods (1987). He is also the author of a postdoctoral treatise on motion and expression in the art of Leonardo da Vinci, published in 2010. He has published numerous works on Renaissance art and art theory, and on 20th-century art. Since 1996 he has been Professor of Medieval and Modern Art at the University of Leipzig. For TASCHEN he has authored the XL monographs on Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.

"A man in recovery" comes along and shares his testimony that gives all who read this book a clear picture of how addiction will destroy you and the best of everything you have built and worked hard for and drain you to the edge death and darkness as Tim eloquently written.I laughed, shed some tears, and his story made me "feel." Made me look back to my worst days of addiction. When written words make you feel what the author is sharing, then he did his job as a writer. The book is well laid out, exceptionally written and edited. Tim is very adamant about NEVER giving up or give in as your "Miracle" is coming and freedom from bondage in recovery.He shares very real, raw, and bares his soul and indiscretions with an "in your face attitude" as he should as he is talking life or death option when it comes to any addiction, including his own. But? Second chances are allowed! Sometimes having to be tough is a good thing to reclaim one's life back. I commend him for sharing his life and his recovery and what it took for him to be another life saved. God performs Miracles. Like Tim, we just need to listen and see them all around us. What an amazing legacy you leave to helps others from addiction beyond a lifetime, Tim Ryan!I highly recommend everyone read this one! I began to read and figured I would finish it in a week at my leisure. I finished it non-stop! Tim tells it like it is from an addict's perspective, which is something most of us cannot relate to? Writing part of this book had to be painful in the fact that Tim had to relive difficult times in his life - but also had to be therapeutic in some way. As you will see Tim lost a son to the same addiction. Again something most of us absolutely cannot relate to?! In my opinion it is to some extent giving back and Tim is now able to pay it forward by what he does on a daily basis. And that is helping others in this sad and all too often common world of addiction that we read, hear and see about on a daily basis. This is an amazing story, he is an amazing man, and you will not be disappointed you bought this book!

He's now in recovery and he let's us know why recovery and your higher powered is a road he will walk the rest of his life. 5 stars are not enough, nor would 500 be. A must read for families together.Tim Ryan has saved so many from the hell of heroin, but he's lost many and this is what fuels him. Watching a loved one detox from heroin is painful. Fighting for their rights in early detox is excruciating. There's not enuf thank yous for you Tim, nor blessings. Peace...

This is the least interesting book on addiction I've read in a long time.I'm sure there is a story but it's not in the book, even though the author overdosed and died multiple times - stories that are not in the book. What's in the book is the sucess story of water skiing and making a lot of money on multiple businesses, going to jail, getting clean and preaching god. Not worth the money!

I just finished reading this book. Wow! It is very well written and it really helped me understand the mindset of addict. Every chapter is very emotional. I believe this book will be a very helpful resource and tool for addicts in active addiction, people in recovery and anyone who has a family member or friend in addiction. Thank you Tim Ryan for sharing your life story.

I have read this book three times and am still enthralled. This is a must read from a man who doesn't sugar coat a thing. It should be a mandatory read for every high school student!!! This is awesome for teaching developmentally delayed children. My son is autistic and has trouble understanding complicated ideas. This book is great with simple drawings of molecules and elements. I am so glad I found this because I wanted to introduce him to science subjects but most of them are way too complicated for him. The only thing that bugs me is that it doesn't have page numbers but I will deal with it.

I liked this book alot. I'm 10 yrs old. I enjoyed learning all about atoms and protons. I learned what an atomic number is which is the amount of protons in the atom. I hope you make more books like this.

My 5 year old really loves science and I bought her a few chemistry books but none as fun as this one! Ok, I never really liked chemistry so my knowledge is very limited but I would say this is a great starting book on chemistry for little ones. Will get others from same author.

LOVE this book and my six year old does too! Will be getting more from this series.

April Chloe Terrazas really hit the nail on the head with her Super Smart Science Series. These books are wonderful. Brightly colored with pronunciation guides, simplistic pictures and just the facts, Chemistry is a great choice for the budding chemist! Also, puts great emphasis on the individual atoms so you may just have a young Einstein on your hands!

My granddaughter is so smart, but often goes unchallenged. She is like a little sponge, so when she got her hands on this book, she ate it up. Don't wait until your kids are older to introduce them to Science.

Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Tom Clancy, Alex Berenson, Rob Sinclair, Lee Child, and now comes Pete Blaber, a real life Special Ops machine who tells a compelling story of his real life adventures from childhood in Illinois to the battlefield of Afghanistan. I flew through this book, I couldn't put it down and I'm sad that I'm through reading it as I'm sure there is so much more Pete can write (or can't for security reasons can't) about his adventures in the mountains of Afghanistan fighting for our freedom from the terrorists hell bent on inflicting pain on the western world. We need more people like Pete not only to fight, but also tell a story for our kids and their kids to know what we fought for. Thanks Pete for sharing your story!
