Good book full of fun facts and dental trivia. My 9 year old liked it, but it is written a little wordy for my 5 year old. I really like that it has a trauma page with simple ways to treat dental emergencies. Not that I would ever want anyone to need that information, but it’s good to have it easy access. I also like how there is a lot more information on what happens outside the dental office than inside.

I love this book for teaching dental health. It contains many interesting and fun facts. It includes all aspects of dental health... how to brush, floss, effects of sugar, what to do in case of emergency, timeline of the eruption of teeth, etc. My students were very interested in the book. It appeals to all ages... elementary to adult!

I bought the Tooth Book to fulfill NYS requirements for health education as homeschoolers for third grade. I love Edward Miller's illustrations and the layout is nice as well. It's an easy read and I felt it held its own well in a genre that attempts to make complex and not always exciting topics interesting and fun for kids.

This is a really neat book with lots of cool things to read about teeth. We bought this with the money the tooth fairy left for the first lost tooth. For the kid who was so fascinated by this process, the book was great. He's been learning a lot.

Teaches children how to brush teeth, floss, and why. Teaches them all about what dentists and hygienists do. Imagine! Teaching a kid to take care of his or her teeth so they'll have them the rest of their lives!! How priceless is that?! This book is a priceless gift to give any child.

What a quick book! It is fun to read and great silly pictures all the while imparting great information.

This travel guide was perfect for meeting my questions for my future trip to the US Virgin Islands. It was very descriptive and had beautiful photographs of both the US and British Virgin Islands. I can't wait for my trip!

Never mind one day, or a few hours. You could spend weeks here and never get bored. In fact, some people come for years, or come and never leave at all. There's a lot here, and this book can help you get your hands around it in glorious detail.As far a travel guides go, this one has it all. Exhaustive geographic coverage, up-to-date listings, diverse attractions, pragmatic information, thematic itineraries... there's just so much good stuff here, from history to hedonism.For me, a really nice touch to this guide is that it is sensitive to the traveler who is really looking to get off the beaten track. There are many suggestions that will add authenticity to your trip. This is not just another Caribbean island group, no Sir! These islands are different. Trust this comprehensive guide to lead you in whatever direction you choose, be that into the middle of it all, or on the edge of it all.

Not bad not amazing either

I just wanted to learn about a few places. That and the cover (which is a photo I assume) is quite pretty.Speaking of photographs, I thought all that all of them were beautiful..Still, I thought that most of the information provided was even better because, various activities and recommended times were listed. Schedules were provided for every island. In addition, various risks were listed. (I list this as a plus because, when you go somewhere, you should learn about the good and the bad.)Likewise, there were history lessons throughout. Granted, not all of them were positive. (And there was one about religion that I disliked.)On the other hand, I had mixed feelings about the general guide section. I liked it at first because, it gave vital information. It even focused on issues the Virgin Island people are still tackling today. However, I thought the author sounded preachy when she said 'the balance between people and nature'. (I just don't put much stock into that.)Likewise, the author sounded rude at times. Granted, it was just a few minor instances. That was one factor that ruined my reading experience, though. However, the one notable exception was when the author called Europeans impatient. I thought she sounded ignorant because, I've learned about them over the years. First, I learned in 9th grade from my English teacher that those drivers don't rush. I later learned from one of my speech therapist that they take their time serving you over there. (She also said that they consider it rude to order a to-go bag.) Last, I learned a while back that in Germany, it's considered more convenient to use cash than a credit card and PIN. (I also learned that you need explicit permission to chat with someone.)In addition, I found a few more issues with this. I spotted a few mistakes that made for awkward sentences. However, the bigger issue was the last few guide sections. Those made me so upset that I was kind of glad that I had no actual interest in visiting. In addition, any appeal that had built up was destroyed.All that considered, I encourage you to read this only if you're planning a visit. If that's the case, then you're going to need all the information you can get. You don't want to spend money on a flight, stay there for a day, get fed up, then leave the next day.

This misses out so many stores, restaurants and businesses. I live in the USVI and am in the BVI almost every week for 25 years. I am sad that the author has written such a partisan book and excluded many places that visitors to the island might enjoy and find useful.

I enjoyed reading this book, and it breaks down the entire process in very simple terms for me to understand diamonds. I thought it was intelligently written, and very witty as well, to make reading it fun. I liked that the author made a lot of cultural references in the book, to make such materials a joy to read/understand. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to understand diamonds. I knew nothing about diamonds until I read this. It is interesting how they make and grade a stone. It will make you think twice before you purchase.

Even I cannot afford good diamonds yet, I learned how to identify a good one, and to avoid scams. I recommend this book for people who like to buy jewels, to make jewels, who are urban treasure hunters, or just for curious like me. It is a very pleasant reading. I just miss more pictures, and a reference guide with best places to buy as retailers or dealer. I would like to know a good and reliable manufacturer.

Diamonds 101 ReviewI hate giving less than stellar reviews, perhaps because I usually do better homework before purchasing something.Diamonds 101 is written with a nice flowing style. Sort of like you're at the bar and Dirk Rendel, the author, is giving you a tutorial on Diamonds. Like a good buddy it is not just technical, but also all the caveats and booby traps along the way, and how to avoid or minimize them.So where are the disappointments?Not a single illustration of a diamond! As he describes what a diamond looks like you feel like you're communicating with an astronout on a distant planet, and he only has texting capability. No picture, illustration, annotations, arrows showing what the "table" is vs. the "culet". Did I mention the depth, girdle, crown, and pavilion? These are just some terms to describe a diamond. What an egregious oversight. This is a buyers guide, right? To prepare you to look knowledgeable when shopping and examining diamonds.Poor proofreading. On page 98 he writes about security paperwork for you diamond. The sentence ends with "…embossed logos, watermarks, and micro lines, to ensure that certificates are not easily forgotten". "Forgotten"??? Did you mean "forged"? On page 125, regarding on replacement value of a diamond, he writes "This amount may is usually enough to replace the item…..". Dirk, fire that proof reader. "May is"?His example of calculating a price based on the Rappaport List is a doozy, on page 87. He goes through the methodology of calculating a base price of $43,700. But wait, there are additional factors to account for. The methodology moves forward but the "Base Price" magically changes from $43,700 to $39.100!Perhaps he got confused by the miserable table on page 86, which is a Rappaport List Sample. There is a 9 or 10 column table. Confusing enough that I am not sure. Instead of a neat 9 column table it is on two lines, and virtually noting has rational spacing or lines up. Sloppy. Confusing. Totally unnecessary.In closing, as a light read (this book is not a 6 month training manual), with excellent rational street wise tips, I would have given this a 4 or 5. But not in the shape it is presented. Then you start to ask yourself is his methodology correct on other topics?Time to buy another book on buying diamonds.

I HAVE BEEN A DIAMOND ENTHUSIAST FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS. I READ EVERYTHING AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET AND I HAVE PURCHASED MANY BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT. THIS BOOK BY DIRK RENDEL IS THE LEAST INFORMATIVE AND EXTREMELY OVERPRICED TO BOOT. I LEARNED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVEN A BEGINNER. HE MAKES NO EFFORT TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS A GREAT DIAMOND WITH REGARD TO MEASUREMENTS. THE FACT HE PROVIDED ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOS OF DIAMONDS OR EVEN A SAMPLE GIA REPORT IS ABSURD. I EMBARASSED MYSELF BY READING THIS BOOK. I KEEP ALL THE BOOKS I PURCHASED ON THE SUBJECT FOR REFERENCE, BUT I THREW THIS BOOK AWAY ON THE SAME DAY I RECEIVED IT. THE BOOK IS PURE GARBAGE AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THE NAME DIRK RENDEL BECAUSE OF IT.

This is a light hearted, somewhat irreverent look at the process of buying a diamond. No pictures to speak of but thoroughly enjoyable with quite a few useful observations, particularly on how to avoid dodgy salespeople.

This is a great book, with the information I was looking for. Funny and educational, this really helps you to understand the world of diamonds.

Nicely bound and handsomely illustrated, the content is sadly not up to the rest of the product. I ready like this as a nice introduction on some of the concepts that appear in the plots of the stories, but this is far from a technical book. Compared to the HAYNES manual for my Honda Civic, there is not much to this book. Very handsome binding and lovely printing though.

A lot of new information here I hadn't seen before. Wish they could have devoted more to TOS Enterprise but I understand they had to cover all the major incarnations. That said, the chapter on the NX01 "Enterprise" TV show ship was quite interesting. Because this was a failed series, it doesn't get much press but the design of the ship is very functional and has a lot of details that didn't go into the original design of TOS Enterprise.

A thorough waste of money.A Haynes Manuel is extensive. Exhaustive. This "Owners' Workshop Manual" is anything but. Details that you find inside are pretty much things that any Star Trek fan would already know, and they are easily found in previous publications. Quite frankly, this could've been a fantastic, groundbreaking book, especially when showing details about the NX-01, and yet, as I said, it didn't even come close to delivering. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW in this book, really. Between the Star Trek Technical Manuals, and the former (much better) Star Trek: the Magazine, they were much more informative. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE PRESENTING INFORMATION NOBODY PREVIOUSLY KNEW. Don't waste your time buying this. Shame on you, Star Trek money grubbers, for publishing this worthless book.

As many people have pointed out, this book was far too light on any new facts or Treknology to satisfy fans. When you compare it to other genre Haynes manuals, like the Millennium Falcon, the Thunderbirds, or especially the Bird of Prey, it's particularly lacking. It does have a few nice original graphics, but most of the stuff is rehashed from old episodes. Where they could have made this book interesting was by adding more detail on ships that we don't know much about, like the Enterprise B and C. This was the first of the series, though, and the Haynes manuals have gotten better. Here's hoping Sternbach can convince them to let him write a Voyager one.

If you're looking for a solid technical manual on the workings of the Enterprise, keep looking (or go back and re-read your copy of Mr. Scott's Guide). I've never written a book myself, but come on, did the authors not now who their audience was going to be? The book starts out with a huge picture of the Okuda's in the Forward, which doesn't do the best job of setting the mood of the book. It then launches into a "history" of the Enterprise, which is pretty much just a weak synopsis of the shows and movies. This is probably my biggest complaint is that 90% of the text is just rehash of events from the shows and the movies. Seriously, did they really think that the folks buying this book had never seen the shows or movies? My other main compliant was all the "filler" material. Did the book really need the following passage from page 48 describing the blinking red light on the main console of original Enterprise: "An indicator on the front of the console illuminated to show the ship's status. Under normal operating conditions, it was not illuminated, but when the ship was at red alert it flashed red". I'm not making that up. That's a word-for-word quote from the book. I half expected an explanation to show up indicating that doors were provided for crew quarters, and that if the door were closed, it indicated that the crew member wanted privacy.There were a couple of good diagrams and breakout explanations of things like quantum torpedos, which is why I gave two stars. But seriously, this is fifteen bucks and a few hours of reading I wish I had back.

More than just the "Haynes", there are drawings, illustrations, and screen caps from the series on TV and a little of the TOS movies. Elevations and layouts, cutaways and exploded views also. DS9 and VOY are not included. More info on warp drive, shuttle crafts, transporters, time travel, and weapons. If you are or know any Trek fan, this will be a hit.

This is more of a glorified picture book, then Haynes manual. Haynes makes some of the best repair books and this is nothing but a full color picture book. It was not what I was expecting by and was more of a let down when I first looked it over. It would be nice for the description to clam that it's not a Haynes repair manual as that's what they are know for making. I would guess that the other books like this for other ships and fiction craft are about the same after seeing this one.This is not the prize of my collection by at all.

I honestly expected cut-away diagrams such as the one seen on the cover, but there are none. I was also hoping to (though I didn't expect it), at some point, see the greasy hands of Haynes holding up a piece or part of the Enterprise's engines, but only because it would have been funny.In any case, it's definitely not worthy of the Haynes cover and title.
